About Me

I have recently completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. My husband is in the Army and we moved to the Lawton/Ft. Sill area in July 2011. I completed my student teaching at Hugh Bish Elementary in December 2011. Following my clinical teaching, I was offered a long-term substitute teaching job in the same building, taking over a 3rd grade class for 10 weeks. Teaching is a second career for me. I graduated from the University of Richmond in 1998, majoring in English and journalism. I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served four years as a platoon leader and an intelligence officer (until I was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain). For the last 10 years, I have been a stay-at-home mom and Army spouse. I am excited to embark on the adventure of teaching. I believe in teaching students how to think, not what to think and love watching their faces light up when they "get it." I am very comfortable using technology, and believe that to teach today's students, it has a prominent place in the classroom. I am comfortable teaching all subjects, and find that I have a knack for integrating content across the curriculum. I can't wait to have a classroom of my own!
